Left Fork Fire – Fire Update 5/11/2022

Wildland fire crews will continue today working on constructing and improving fire perimeter handline. Accessibility for the fire fighters is challenging due to limited road access and steep terrain along with high winds.

Wildland fire managers are watching the weather closely to ensure firefighter safety as a Wind Advisory and Red Flag fire weather warning are both in effect from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. today.

Fire managers are requesting the public’s assistance by avoiding the area to allow fire resources to access the fire.

Fire Start: May 9, 2022

Fire Crews/Resources: 7 – engines, air attack, 2 – Type 1 helicopter, 5 – hand crews, and 2 water tenders

Containment: 0%

Size: Estimated 100 acres

Location: 3.2 miles west of Podunk Guard Station

Cause: Human Caused
