Left Fork Fire – Fire Update 5/10/2022
Powell Ranger District fire managers will continue to assess the Left Fork Fire while getting additional resources in place to engage the fire during today’s operational period. A Type 1 Helicopter is expected to arrive on scene this morning and begin firefighting operations. The fire is estimated at 100 acres burning in timber, litter, understory and logging debris. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
Fire managers are requesting the public’s assistance by avoiding the area to allow fire resources to access the fire.
Fire Start: May 9, 2022
Fire Crews/Resources: 6 – engines, air attack, 1 – Type 1 helicopter and 1 – hand crew
Containment: 0%
Size: Estimated 100 acres
Location: 3.2 miles west of Podunk Guard Station
Cause: Under Investigation
