Due to favorable weather conditions, Central Utah Fire Crews were able to ignite and successfully burn an estimated 600 acres of the Horse Hollow Prescribed Fire Project, located East of Fillmore, Utah on the Fishlake National Forest, Fillmore Ranger District. Fire personnel will continue to be on site and monitor the prescribed fire over the next several days. Smoke may continue to be visible.
If weather conditions become favorable over the next several weeks the remaining acres will be burned. At this time, Chalk Creek canyon road will remain closed at the Forest Service boundary gate and will be opened as soon as the road surface dries, and damage can be prevented. The completion of this project will strengthen and provide protection for the surrounding communities from potential catastrophic wildfires.
