Summary: The Range Fire was tested yesterday by winds and all containment lines held. A couple of hot spots along the eastern perimeter flared up temporarily in the afternoon but air resources were able to quickly suppress them. Fire managers felt comfortable reopening SR-92 yesterday evening based on the recent fire behavior and current containment. Today, crews will focus on continuing to secure the fire perimeter by identifying and extinguishing sources of heat along the fire’s edge.

Fire Size & Containment: 3,496 acres, 57% contained

Fire Behavior: Minimal fire activity with isolated torching within the fire perimeter
Structures Threatened: Yes
Evacuations: All residents in Sundance are under a Pre-Evacuation notice.
Closures: SR-92 is open again. All local parks down both sides of Hwy 189 are closed including Canyon Glen Park, Canyon View Park, Mt. Timpanogos Park, Nunns Park, Bridal Veil Falls/Park and Upper Falls Picnic Area. Trail closures include Provo River trail from the mouth of Provo Canyon to Vivian Park, Provo River trail from Nunns Park to Timpanogos Park, Dry Canyon trailhead, trail #049 Dry Canyon Trail and #033 Little Baldy/Great Western Trail.
Fuels and Terrain: Steep terrain burning in grass, brush, oak and pine.
