Start: September 22, 2020

Location: 1 mile east from Neff’s Canyon Trailhead, Mount Olympus Wilderness
Cause: Lightning
Size: 55 acres
Containment: 0%
Fuels: Timber and oak brush
Closures: Neff’s Canyon Trail: The area closure includes all trails and trailheads. Please see the attached map. Please note: Mount Olympus trailhead and trail are now included in the area closure order. Please stay out of the closure area for public and firefighter safety.

Today, September 26th, air operations will continue to coordinate with ground resources to strategically drop water on the areas of the fire where the potential for growth is highest and closest to the community. Firefighters will continue digging handline and contingency lines working toward containment with focus around the community of Olympus Cove. Firefighters will also be installing a hose lay along the Neff’s Canyon Trail as part of their contingency plan.
All incident resources are working hard to suppress the wildfire, nevertheless, we do need residents to be prepared to leave if the fire hits the pre-determined trigger points. Drone/aircraft incursions halt all fire related aircraft operations. If you fly, we can’t. Temporary Flight Restriction (TFR) are in place over the Neff’s Fire, pilots are required to check and understand where those TFR’s are located.
