9-23-20 3 Creeks Fire Fact Sheet

Summary: The 3 Creeks Fire began around 5 PM on September 21, 2020. The fire ignited along State Highway 153 in a fuels treatment within the dead and down slash piles. Yesterday, with the help of wetting rains, the 3 Creeks Fire progression was minimal. Firefighters worked hot spots, and secured hand lines. All closures and evacuation orders have been lifted. The objectives for firefighters’ today, will be to continue to hold the east flank of the fire, monitor the south and north end for hot spots, removing hazard trees along State Highway 153, and begin mopping up.
Location: 10 miles east of Beaver, Utah
Jurisdiction: U.S. Forest Service, Beaver Ranger District
Fire Size: Estimated 60 acres (Note: one acre is equivalent to one football field)
Cause: Human – under investigation
Firer Behavior: smoldering, creeping and backing
Percent Contained: 30%

Fuels: Dead and down slash piles, mixed conifer, aspen
