9-22-20 3 Creeks Fire Fact Sheet

Summary: The 3 Creeks Fire began around 5 PM on September 21, 2020. The fire ignited along State Highway 153 in a fuels treatment within the dead and down slash piles. Night operations were able establish a hose lay on the north end of the fire. Today, firefighters will be working on tying the handline into the drainage and continue securing hose lay and extinguishing hot spots. Scattered rain and thunderstorms are expected later today.
Location: 10 miles east of Beaver, Utah
Jurisdiction: U.S. Forest Service, Beaver Ranger District
Fire Size: Estimated 60 acres
Cause: Human – under investigation
Fire Behavior: smoldering, creeping, and backing
Closures: Temporary closure of State Highway 153 at mile marker 10 to Puffer Lake.

Fuels: Dead and down slash piles, mixed conifer, aspen
Fire Crews/Resources: Several federal and state engines, 4 helicopters, 6 smoke jumpers
Evacuations: Eagle Point Ski Resort area, Big John Flat area
