Current Status: Today, September 9th, Type 2 Incident Management Great Basin Team 3, assumed command of the fire, the team is also managing the Ether Hollow Fire to the north near Springville. The fire size is approximately 4,895 acres. The containment remains at 18%. The cold front has helped slow fire activity but will slowly move out of the area over the next day or two.
The smoke is expected to be minimal, however, the infrared flight did show that the areas of uncontained (82%) fire perimeter have heat and potential to grow. Additionally, resources will reserve aviation support for critical needs, please keep drones out of the area.
There are closures on Pole Canyon Road and the Mona Pole Road (Forest Service road #600/#160) and details can be found on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest website https://www.fs.usda.gov/uwcnf.
We ask that the public stay away from the area for the safety of the firefighters and the public.
A TFR (Temporary Flight Restriction) has been implemented over the fire area – which means recreational drones and private aircraft cannot fly over the fire. The TFR can be found here: https://tfr.faa.gov/save_pages/detail_0_5589.html. Please remember, if you fly, we can’t.
