Summary: The Cougar Fire is now 100 percent contained. Firefighters will continue to extinguish hot spots and secure containment lines over the next couple of days. This will be the final update unless significant changes occur.
Reported: Sunday, August 16 at approximately 1:45pm.
Location: Hamlin Valley, Utah. Near Cougar Spar in Beaver County. Approximately 30 miles northwest of Cedar City, UT.
Jurisdiction: Bureau of Land Management.
Fire Size: 476 acres. (Note: one acre is equivalent to one football field)
Cause: Human caused, under investigation.
Fire Behavior: Smoldering.
Closures: No closures. Be advised of fire traffic in this area.
Structures Threatened: No structures are threatened.
Percent Contained: 100%.
Fuels: Pinyon, juniper, sagebrush and grass.
Evacuations: No evacuations.
Injuries: One heat related illness occurred Tuesday.
