Sandy Fire Update – 7/25/20 – 1 p.m.

Summary: The Sandy fire was reported at 3:34 p.m. July 24, 2020 approximately 3 miles west of exit 30 off Interstate 15. It is burning near the Dry Sandy Wash in brush and pinion juniper. Fire activity is creeping and smoldering with some isolated trees torching on the interior of the fire perimeter in the heavier fuels. Fire activity will increase in the afternoon as the relative humidity drops, but it is not expected to make significant movement.

Location: Near Toquerville, Utah

Fire Behavior: Fire is creeping and smoldering

Cause: Lightning

Structures Threatened: no

Structures Destroyed: no

Fire Resources Assigned: 2 Type 1 Hotshot crews, 2 Type 2 IA Crews, 1 Type 1 Helicopter,  and 1 Type 2 Helicopter, other air assets available if required.
