Summary: The Veyo West fire is currently 90 percent contained. Firefighters will continue to patrol the fire perimeter, and mop up hot spots as needed. Rehabilitation work has started on some areas of the fire’s perimeter.
The fire will transition to a local type IV Incident Commander as the Color Country Type III team is returning the fire back over to the local agency at the end of shift today.

Fire Size/Containment: 2,618 acres/90% contained
Location: Near Veyo, Utah
Fire Behavior: Minimal, smoldering. The fire has not had significant movement for the last 3 days.
Cause: Human
Structures Threatened: Yes
Structures Destroyed: 1 primary and 1 outbuilding
Closures: The area of the National Forest System land east of Forest Road 859 and land to the west of the road, along the Forest’s south boundary, and land west of the Forest’s east boundary and land south of Forest Service Road 845.
Evacuations: None
Fuels/terrain: Dry grass, brush and timber
Fire Resources Assigned: 133 personnel -1 hot shot crew, 3 Type 2 crews, 5 Type 3 engines, 4 Type 4 engines, 2 Type 6 engines, 1 bulldozer, 2 water tenders, and support from local fire.
Injuries: None.
