Veyo West Fire – 7/17/20

Summary: As of 7 p.m., the Veyo West Fire, was mapped at 2,618 acres. The fire is seventy five percent contained. Hand crews continue securing and strengthening fire lines. The fire is burning through dry brush, grass and timber. Fire managers continue to monitor structures in the immediate vicinity and are continuing to protect the utility corridor. The fire is being managed by a Type III team.

Fire Size/Containment: 2,618 acres/75% contained

Location: Near Veyo, Utah

Fire Behavior: Minimal, smoldering. The fire has not had significant movement for the last 48 hours.  

Cause: Human

Structures Threatened: Yes

Structures Destroyed: 1 primary and 1 outbuilding

Closures: The area of the National Forest System land east of Forest Road 859 and land to the west of the road, along the Forest’s south boundary, and land west of the Forest’s east boundary and land south of Forest Service Road 845.

Evacuations: None

Fuels/terrain: Dry grass, brush and timber

Fire Resources Assigned: 192 personnel, 1 hot shot crew, 3 Type II initial attack crews, 6 Type III engines, 5 Type IV engines, 3 Type 6 engines, 4 bulldozer, 2 water tender, multiple local fire departments and 1 Type I helicopter.

Injuries: None.
