Summary: The human-caused Turkey Farm Road Fire started on July 13th at approximately 9:10 pm. As of July 14, 2020 at 11 am the fire has grown to over 1,662 acres. The fire is being driven by erratic winds. A Red Flag Warning is in effect for the fire area today, weather conditions will be a challenge for firefighters. The smoke column has been very visible from the surrounding areas. The public is asked to avoid the area.

Fire Size/Containment: Estimated 1,662+ acres, 0% contained

Location: 3 miles west of Washington City in Washington County

Ownership: State, BLM and Private

Fire Behavior: Running, pushed by erratic winds

Cause: Human-caused, fireworks.

Structures Threatened: Yes

Structures Destroyed: 1 outbuilding

Closures: Secondary roads west of Washington City and north of St. George, Turkey Track Rd, Danish Ranch rd, BLM rd 901, Winchester Trail Road, Icehouse Trail, Yellow Knolls Trail, Black Gulch Trail, Middleton Trail and Mesa Rim Trail.

Evacuations: None

Fuels/terrain: pinyon, juniper, dry brush and grass

Fire Resources Assigned: 6 engines, 2 fuels squads, 1 water tender, multiple heavy air tankers, multiple SEATS and 1 T-3 helicopter

Injuries: None.
