Summary: Initial Attack Fire resources are actively responding to a wildfire in Kane County, Utah. The Wire Pass Fire is estimated to be approximately 400-600 acres and is located near the Wire Pass Trailhead off House Rock Valley Road, which is part of the Paria Canyon/Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness located approximately 47 miles east of Kanab, Utah via Highway 89. At this time trailheads & power lines are considered threatened.
Start Date: June 26, 2020 at approximately 11:00 p.m.
Cause: Unknown.
Fire Size: Estimated at 400-600 acres
Percent Contained: N/A
Complexity: Type 3 Incident Command
Jurisdiction: Federal
Fire Behavior: Active fire behavior in areas with thicker vegetation. Wind expected to gust up to 55 mph tomorrow.
Fuels and Terrain: Grass and pinyon-juniper.
Structures Threatened: Trails, trailheads and powerlines
Evacuations: Hikers are being evacuated from the vicinity of Wire Pass Trail, Buckskin Trail, The Wave and Stateline Campground.
Closures: House Rock Valley Road is now closed.
