Saddle Fire – May 14, 2020
Start Date: Tuesday May 12th | Size: 646 acres |
Cause: Human-caused | Percent Contained: 40% |
Personnel Assigned: 150 | Location: ¼ mile North of Interlaken |

Firefighters made significant progress on the Saddle Fire yesterday increasing containment to 40 percent. More accurate mapping shows the fire at 646 acres. The aircraft assigned to the incident helped to secure sections along the fire perimeter which were difficult to access by personnel on the ground.
The mandatory evacuations were lifted yesterday evening and residents were allowed to return home. The Dutch Hollow Trail System along with The Phosphate and The Face trails remain closed until further notice.
Today, crews on the ground will continue to construct containment lines, secure the established control lines and extinguish sources of heat along the fire perimeter. Aircraft will be available as needed to drop water and provide additional support. Fire managers are feeling optimistic about the progress that will be made during today’s operational shift.
Fire managers are tentatively planning to transition back down to a Type 4 incident management organization tomorrow afternoon. This decision to reduce the incident complexity will be made based on the progress firefighters make on the fire today.
Local law enforcement will be posted at the two access roads into the fire, Dutch Hollow Road and Interlaken Drive, to help ensure firefighter safety. The public is asked not to offer donations; unfortunately they cannot be accepted given current health concerns.
