The Big Hollow fire started Friday July 5th at around 7:00 pm. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time. Due to the remote location and the time it was called in very little was contained last night. They were able to establish a good anchor point and open an old dirt road with a dozer getting access to the southern end of the fire.
Today the plan is to use the dozer along with the two hand crews supported by the enigines to construct line on the North, West, and East portions of the fire. No infrastructure is threatened at this time and there are no evacuations in place.
The access road to the fire, Big Hollow road, will be closed today to allow fire equipment to work safely in the area. Downdrafts from potential thunderstorms today and tomorrow are some of the concerns along with steep roads and limited access.
Anyone with information on how the fire started should contact the Wasatch County Sheriff’s Department.
