Project Description: The Durkee Springs Chaining Maintenance Project is a rangeland restoration project aimed to reduce hazardous fuels and to enhance wildlife and range habitat. The project consists of treating 2,122 acres of pinyon/juniper and sagebrush, utilizing heavy equipment- “chaining” methods, to rejuvenate old sagebrush stands and improve herbaceous under-story that will sustain deer, elk, and livestock herds within the Monroe Mountain Herd Unit. This is a cooperative project between Bureau of Land Management and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
